Marshall County
Marshall County is a county located in far western portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2010 census, the population was 31,448. It is the only Purchase Area county that does not border another state; a narrow strip of land in neighboring Livingston County separates Marshall County from the Ohio River and the Illinois border. The small town of Benton, KY, known as Kentucky Lake’s Downtown, is the county seat and lies in the far western part of the Bluegrass state in Marshall County. Benton’s geographical location is the center of the county in a nest of hills just south and west of Clarks River.
